APPG UOG EGM

An EGM was held on Tuesday 2 February to elect a new Vice Chair of the APPG.

Nominations for the position of Vice Chair were sought. The sole nomination of David Mowat MP was noted. Mr Mowat’s nomination was agreed unanimously and he was elected unopposed.

Nigel Mills speech at Shale gas in the UK

At the Conference, Shale gas in the UK: regulation, addressing challenges, and energy security on the 23rd June, Nigel Mills MP, Chair of the APPG UOG delivered a speech on policy priorities for shale development and UK energy security. He highlighted that constituents want cheap, secure and green energy sources and that it will be interesting to see how Government tries to achieve all three and the role gas will play. He concludes with the policy challenge of a robust framework for the long term future of the industry.

APPG UOG EGM – Nigel Mills MP elected Chair

At an EGM held on Wednesday 21st January 2015, Dan Byles MP stepped down from his role as the Chair of the APPG UOG. Nigel Mills MP was duly elected as Chair by the designated quorum of votes.

Dan Byles MP was then elected as a Vice-Chair of the APPG UOG.

Notes: APPG UK SMEs meeting

On 11 December the APPG on Unconventional Oil and Gas held a public meeting with Lee Petts, acting CEO of the recently launched Onshore Energy Services Group (OESG), and Matthew Elliott, Chief Executive of Business for Britain. The meeting focused on how UK SMEs can make onshore oil and gas a British affair, focusing particularly on how UK SMEs can establish themselves in the supply chain.

Notes: APPG State of the Industry meeting

On 2 December the APPG on Unconventional Oil and Gas held a public meeting with Ken Cronin and Corin Taylor from UKOOG, Duarte Figueira, Office of Unconventional Gas and Oil, and Marieke Beckmann, Centre for Carbon Measurement at the National Physical Laboratory. The meeting focused on developments that have occurred since the group met before the summer recess, including project announcements, new evidence and political developments.

Notes: APPG Lessons from America meeting

On 18 November the APPG on Unconventional Oil and Gas held a meeting with the Minister of State at DECC Rt Hon Matthew Hancock MP and Mark Henning, Global President, Dow. Following on from a roundtable which took place in October 2013, the session explored the way in which experiences in the USA can inform how the UK develops a safe and sustainable shale industry, with a focus on the importance of a UK supply chain and skilled workforce.
